The History
In 2004, Fran Lively Mathers, owner of Via Reál Restaurant, began a scholarship foundation in memory of her late husband and business partner, Pat Mathers. Every year since then, many thousands of dollars in college scholarships been awarded to help further the education of the fine young sons and daughters of the Irving Police Department. The recipients are college students who excel in academics, community service, and extracurricular activities, and who also exhibit "Above and Beyond" ambitions to reach their goals. These children will ensure a very bright future for our community and country.
